US taps pension fund to avoid passing debt limit

Read more: www.foxnews.com/.../

Geithner and anyone else who has deemed this is a solution for budget deficits should be jailed for this practice.   This theft only works when the debt limit is raised so the funds can be returned to the pension fund.......what happens if the debt limit is not raised?   Using pension funds as a slush fund to offset deficit spending is totally irresponsible if not illegal on its face.   Why not cut aid to the U.N., or the millions in aid being sent to foreign ant-American middle east countries who have repeatedly used it against us.   Why not cut anything else rather than rob from working class Americans?

Two-thirds of U.S. weapons owners would 'defy' a federal gun ban

www.washingtontimes.com/.../

I'm impressed with the percentages of Democrats and Liberals and their responses in the survey numbers.   Appears to be one of the issues which would unite rather than divide Americans and must just piss off the commies no end.   This needs to be at the top of the conservative platform.

Normaly a post from slashdot would not be on topic here, but this one you need to pay attention to...

snip:
There's a battle brewing amongst Obama's election team. The political folks want to keep the get out the vote code closed source so republicans never get access to it, but the programmers want it open sourced so it can be improved upon. 'In this sense, the decision to mothball the tech would be a violation of the developers’ ethical principles. But the argument is about more than whether putting the tech back in the hands of the public is the right thing to do. "The biggest issue we saw with all of the commercial election software we used was that it’s only updated every four years," says Ryan. It was these outdated options that convinced team Obama to build all the campaign tech in-house. If the code OFA built was put on ice at the DNC until 2016, it would become effectively worthless. "None of that will be useful in four years, technology moves too fast," said Ryan. "But if our work was open and people were forking it and improving it all the time, then it keeps up with changes as we go."'"

snip:

An other thing peer review brings out the mistakes in the code but also anything unethical...
This code will never see daylight these programmer people should have seen this coming...
Maybe more corruption will see the light...

I'd keep an eye on this one for "accidents" happening to those programmers who have intimate knowledge of the technology or speak out in favor of open source against the administration.   It's really disturbing to even think that way but too many opponents have already been lost to ignore it.
